We need two fullbacks. Kelly is useless, Sadler is shocking.

I like the look of Jaidi now he's starting to settle, he just needs to be a bit more mobile and that is something we can definitely work on.

Mehdi Nafti is much more muscular and quick, I believe whoever helped him has the ability to sort Jaidi out.

Buy defenders???????????????????

Forse is out for a few months, Bendtner possibly back in January, that leaves a conference level striker (campbell) and Jerome.

So what is more important?

We definitely have to go for Bale, because Sadler is just shocking and we get murdered down the left side.

Kelly can wait until the end of the season, he's a decent enough player who just isn't doing enough atm.

Strange how the conference level striker is our second top scorer?

When Upson is back we have Ngotty, Jaidi, Taylor as well, Tebily and Johson to cover for Kelly ok we lack decent cover for left back, for me the forward situation is a tad more worrying, just cant see us having that many problems at the back with the lack of quality strikers we will be facing.

But up fornt a couple of injuries or suspensions and we are cattle trucked again.

But knowing Buce he will probably ignore this point and go for a midfielder, just honestly cant see the problem with our defence.

Or am i wrong?

In my opinion the 2 full backs are the worst i have seen at the club in many years! Surely high paid pros should be able to pass a football!

I rate Stephen Kelly highly. Give him time to settle in and he'll be a really good acquisiton for the club.

Mat Sadler is still young, but I've expected more from him over the last few games.

To say they are the worst full backs in twenty years is rubbish.

I had a change of heart today, regarding the striking situation. I don't think we'd sell Forssell anyway, but I really felt for the guy. I remembered how nice he is and what a super player he was a few years ago. I back him to return to his former greatness because I know how much hard work that lad puts in.

For me, we are sorted with strikers, as long as we can renew Bendtner's loan.

Midfield is great. Perhaps we should look to permenantly sign Larsson. I really rate the kid.

Defense top notch. Gareth Bale is a good shout - perhaps in a swap deal with Clemence. He spoke about not fitting in at the club and perhaps leaving, and Southampton expressed an interest. Maybe we could strike a deal there.

Other than that, I wouldn't be too hasty to bring many players in. I'd nurture what we have instead.

Oh, sorry for double posting, but another important thing.

We aint going to spend mega-bucks this January. We will leave a lot of it to sign some extra-quality in the summer when we are promoted.

That should be the plan.

We have a good enough team to win this division...now we're settled in we've got 4 league victories on the trot and we could make it 5.

I back us to make it 6,7,8,9 or perhaps 10.

Come on Blues, let's be positive.

scott hiley did a better job at right back and he cost us peanuts

this kelly only signed for us cos he scored against us a few years back in the prem

he is no defender

he looks more like he should be in a boy band

they arent the most comfortable full backs on the ball but Kelly looks like he will get better, he was up against the rapid Gonzalez last night so its a tough marker and imho he looks like he will get better and better and to be fair to Sadler he isnt playing well but has missed that critical period of 17-21 in his football development as he was injured.
As a result the kid does seem to be playing a bit like a 17 year old in his first season.

Shame really that our fans dont back our youngsters. Already i have an idiot sitting next to me who has decided Jerome is rubbish. Yet the kid is 19 and one of the top young strikers outside the premiership.

no wonder we are always stuck in this mess- we crucify every player that plays for us

I think we'll only end up singing 2 players during the Jan window
! in Midfield to cover Dunn
And upfront for the ever injured Forssell

Do not expect big things

i was very critical of the defence early on but with a change of attitude they are now looking much better, the 2 centre backs came straight from the prem where you have to play a differant type of game ,but now they have settled down ,
the 2 full backs were also suffering at the time but now as a unit they are better,
they have all gone back to doing the basics which is easier than trying to do the fancy stuff,
and as for the full backs being the worst you have seen ,i dont agree ,we have been blessed with good full backs over the years and these 2 are not as bad as some would make out,
i could name a few much worse.

Agree with this as in another thread JGray is mentioned as having no confidence this down to fans sucking it from him its been the same over the years i see other clubs roar on their players when they slip up which obviously fires them on to do better. This board is where we should keep the slagging off to. Singing was poor at plymouth lets get behind them saturday tho should be an easy 2 0!

imo we need a central midfielder that can spread it around, boss the game and be an influence on the pitch that the fans will recongnize therefore raising their game bringing the atmosphere back.to many pre season performancies for my liking.its as if were trying to suss out how boring we can play.

I have said it before and i'll say it again.

Sadler is a liability and is going to cost us dear before long.

The kid has neither ability or confidence ( i guess they go hand in hand).

His distribution coming out of defence is woeful.

Agree with the comments about Kelly too.

It is all a real worry.

oooo good post, the defence is not as great as people make out. It is a fairly old in terms of Jaidi and N Gotty both of who will be heading for retirement come another 2 seasons or so. They all make to many careless mistakes, but for the moment they are all we have and i hope they can prove that they are good enough to fight in the prem **thumbup

Not going to happen, because Steve has learnt from his mistakes he said:

Quote:

By Colin Tattum, Birmingham Mail

STEVE Bruce has admitted that Mikael Forssell's latest injury means he will approach the Blues board about signing another striker when the January transfer window opens.

Forssell is out for around three months after having surgery to address the state of his right knee, which included cartilage repair.

"Without question, if I could strengthen us there, I would," said Bruce. "I will sit down with the board over the next few weeks, I'm sure, to see if there is any chance of doing that."

"It's a massive concern because I've learnt from my decision of last year, going into the season with three strikers," the manager continued.

He should get at least 1 full back defender and 1 striker. Maybe a midfielder would do too.

And anyway Mattew Upson will be back soon so thats good news!

As long as we go for Gareth Bale I don't care what else happens.

Please don't miss out on a pure class player within our reach again. We did it with Mcsheffrey and look at the result.
